Riverside County changed how release works in 2025. The Superior Court of California, County of Riverside adopted a new Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule with an effective date of October 20, 2025. It is not just a different dollar amount than Los Angeles County's schedule — it sorts offenses into categories that change whether a bail bond is involved at all.

• Cite and Release (CR) and Book and Release (BR). For charges marked this way, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office is authorized to release the person on a signed promise to appear. No bail is set and no bond is posted. If your loved one's charge falls in one of these categories, you do not need us.
• Pre-Arraignment Review (PAR). A newer review process for certain other charges. As of this writing, the court's own schedule document lists the implementation date for PAR as still to be determined, so we will not promise you how it will run until the court says.
• All other offenses. These continue under the standard bail process — bail set from the schedule at booking, and a 10% premium filed with the California Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800. Our down-payment tiers and no-collateral threshold work exactly the same here as everywhere else on this site.

We say this the same way we say there is no "$0 down" and that 10% is not a discount: some arrests in Riverside County genuinely do not require a bail bond anymore. If yours is one of them, we will tell you and you will not pay us anything. Families should not buy something they do not need because an agency stayed quiet about a reform.

When bail is set or reviewed, a judicial officer weighs the factors listed in Penal Code §1275(a) and the California Constitution, Article 1, §§12 and 28(b)(3): the safety of the victim, the safety of the victim's family, the seriousness of the charged offense, the person's previous criminal record, and the likelihood that the person will appear in court — with public safety as the primary consideration.
