Palm Desert has no police department of its own. It contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff, and the Palm Desert Station that answers also covers Indian Wells and Rancho Mirage. Custody goes to the county jail in Indio. We post there 24 hours a day. 10% premium, 1% down on approved credit.

We don't keep a Palm Desert branch. The mid-valley is covered from our staffed Riverside office on Market Street — but the address that matters to a Palm Desert family is the Benoit Detention Center in Indio, twenty minutes east, not our lobby ninety minutes west.

Licensed agents on every shift, honest answers about where your family member actually is, and financing built for families who didn't plan on an arrest this week.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Palm Desert Station serves Palm Desert, Indian Wells, and Rancho Mirage together under contract. We name all three because a family calling about an arrest in Rancho Mirage or Indian Wells will be routed to the same station — even though we haven't published dedicated pages for those two smaller cities. If that's your situation, this page is the right one to read. We deliberately don't publish a street address for the station that we can't verify to our own standard; call us and we'll confirm the current address and the custody location together.
A licensed agent answers the phone at 3 a.m. on a Sunday the same way we answer at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday. Palm Desert bookings do not wait for business hours, and neither do we.
English and Spanish-speaking agents on every shift. Premium, cosigner obligations, and payment terms get explained in the language your family actually speaks.
Most bonds under $100,000 are written on a qualified signature alone — no property, no pink slip. Above that, collateral may be requested depending on the charge and how the cosigner qualifies.
California fixes the premium at 10% of the bail. The down payment is what flexes — as low as 1% on approved credit, with the balance on a written plan.
California License #1846101, with a staffed office at 3959 Market St Ste C, Riverside, CA 92501 covering Palm Desert — a real office with real agents, not a national call center routing your case to a stranger.
A Palm Desert arrest is a Sheriff's case from the outset: processed through the Palm Desert Station, priced by the county's October 2025 bail schedule, bonded wherever the defendant is actually held.
Palm Desert contracts police services to the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. The Palm Desert Station handles arrests in the city, along with Indian Wells and Rancho Mirage. Prints, photo, and record checks have to clear before a bond can post, and the station provides processing and temporary holding rather than extended custody.
Bail comes from the Riverside County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule effective October 20, 2025 — a county-wide document that sorts offenses into Cite and Release, Book and Release, Pre-Arraignment Review, and standard bail in addition to setting dollar amounts.
Call (951) 692-7388 with a full legal name and date of birth. We check the Palm Desert city booking and the Riverside County system, tell you where they are right now, and read back the exact bail amount and premium before you pay anything.
A short cosigner conversation — employment, residence, and how the balance gets paid. Most approvals take minutes, and most Palm Desert bonds require no collateral.
We post at the facility holding the defendant, whether that's the city jail or the county detention centers after transfer. Release from a municipal booking area is usually faster; the county facilities run a processing queue that can take several hours, longer on weekends and holidays.
The remaining premium is paid on the written schedule agreed up front. No surprise fees, and we remind you of every court date so the bond stays in good standing.
Bail amounts for Palm Desert arrests come from the Riverside County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule (effective October 20, 2025), the same county-wide schedule used for every other city in Riverside County.

The premium is fixed by California law. The down payment is where we can help.
Bail premium rates in California are filed with and approved by the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800. A bondsman quoting a Palm Desert family less than the filed 10% premium as the total cost is quoting something they can't legally deliver.
Once the bond is posted the premium is earned in full — whether the case is dismissed at arraignment or runs two years. That's the price of the surety, not a deposit held against the bail.
Down payments start as low as 1% of the bail on approved credit. The remainder of the 10% premium is financed on a written plan with fixed installments you agree to before signing.
Most Palm Desert bonds under $100,000 are written on a qualified cosigner's signature. Larger bonds may call for collateral depending on the charge and the cosigner's file.
| Bail Amount | 10% Premium | Down At 1% |
|---|---|---|
| $20,000 | $2,000 | $200 |
| $50,000 | $5,000 | $500 |
| $100,000 | $10,000 | $1,000 |
The 1% figure is a down payment on approved credit, not a discounted premium — the full 10% is still owed on the payment plan. For the full 1% through 10% tier comparison and who qualifies for each, see affordable bail bonds.
There is no city jail anywhere in this three-city station area. Coachella Valley custody belongs to the Sheriff's detention division, and that means Indio.
Palm Desert, CA — serving Palm Desert, Indian Wells, and Rancho Mirage
The contract station covering the mid-valley. We list the coverage area rather than a street address because we haven't verified the current station address to the standard we hold ourselves to — call us and we'll confirm it along with where the person is actually held.
Where Palm Desert Arrestees Transfer
82675 Highway 111, Indio, CA 92201
(760) 863-8200
The Sheriff's Coachella Valley detention center, roughly twenty minutes east on Highway 111. The expected destination for a Palm Desert, Indian Wells, or Rancho Mirage hold that continues past processing.
1627 S Hargrave St, Banning, CA 92220
(951) 922-7300
The Sheriff's Pass-area facility west of the valley. Less common for a mid-valley booking than Indio, but classification and population can move people between county facilities.
Have these ready and we can locate the booking — city jail or county — and quote the premium on the first call.
First, middle, and last as it appears on their ID. Nicknames slow the jail search.
Prevents confusion when multiple people share the same name in the booking system.
Tells us which jail to check first — Riverside, San Bernardino, LA, Orange, or San Diego.
Not required, but if you have it, it speeds up locating the record considerably.
Cosigner's name, phone, employer, and general credit range — this is what determines your financing terms.
Family, friend, or coworker — helps us know who to loop in on updates and paperwork.
Bail is set by the Riverside County Superior Court schedule, not by the city — so a Palm Desert booking starts from the same figures as one anywhere else in the county. The ranges below are county schedule ranges, not city-specific numbers.
County schedule range: $5,000 – $100,000
A first misdemeanor DUI sits at the low end of the schedule and can sometimes release on citation. Priors, injury, or a high BAC push the amount up fast.
View PageCounty schedule range: $50,000 – $100,000
Corporal injury filings book high and usually come with a protective order at arraignment. Release conditions matter as much as the bond — we walk cosigners through both before anything is signed.
View PageCounty schedule range: $10,000 – $100,000+
Simple possession books low and often qualifies for diversion. Possession for sale and transportation book far higher, and weight or priors move the number quickly.
View PagePC §240 / §245(a)(1)
County schedule range: $25,000 – $50,000
Simple battery books at the low end. Assault with a deadly weapon is a strike-eligible felony and books substantially higher, often with additional enhancements filed.
View PagePC §484/§487 and PC §459
County schedule range: $20,000 – $50,000
Petty theft books low; grand theft and first-degree residential burglary book substantially higher and carry felony jail or prison exposure. Burglary has its own dedicated page on this site.
View PagePalm Desert is the commercial heart of the mid-Coachella Valley, a city of roughly 51,000 built around El Paseo, the College of the Desert campus, and the Highway 111 retail corridor. Like most of the valley's incorporated cities, it never built a municipal police force.
Police services come from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office through the Palm Desert Station, and that station's contract area covers three cities: Palm Desert, Indian Wells, and Rancho Mirage. Indian Wells and Rancho Mirage are small enough that we haven't given them dedicated pages — they appear in the county hub's city grid, and this page is where their coverage is explained. We'd rather say that outright than let a Rancho Mirage family assume there's a page for them somewhere that they simply haven't found.
Custody is the same story as everywhere else in the valley. Nothing here holds anyone long-term; the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio is where a continuing hold goes. Palm Desert cases are filed in the Riverside County Superior Court system with bail set from the county-wide schedule. We won't name a courthouse for a specific case, but we will tell you immediately whether the charge falls into one of the 2025 no-bail release categories.
