The Southwest Juvenile Courthouse is a single-story building at 30755-G Auld Road in Murrieta, one of several structures on the Southwest Justice Center complex. The Superior Court lists one case category here: juvenile. It houses two courtrooms, Departments SJ1 and SJ2, and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The suite letters on Auld Road are worth getting right before you drive out. The Southwest Justice Center at 30755-D is the adult general-jurisdiction court — criminal, traffic, civil, and, since December 2024, the probate calendar that moved over when the Temecula Courthouse closed. The Byrd Detention Center at 30755-B is the jail. This building, 30755-G, is juvenile. Three destinations, one road, one address number.

Juvenile practice here covers both delinquency, where a minor is alleged to have committed an offense, and dependency, where the issue is a child's safety at home. Both are confidential proceedings, and neither uses the adult bail system. There is no schedule figure to match and no bond to post for a minor — detention is a judicial call at a hearing, weighed on placement and supervision rather than money.

This complex makes the adult and juvenile systems unusually visible side by side. A parent booked into the Byrd Detention Center is a few hundred feet from the courtroom where their child's case is calendared, and still cannot walk to it. Riverside County's October 2025 bail schedule moves some of those adults out quickly under Cite and Release or Book and Release, while Pre-Arraignment Review cases wait for a judicial decision. Posting a bond on the adult case is the piece we handle, and it is the piece that gets a parent into the room on the juvenile side.
