Temecula did have its own courthouse, at 41002 County Center Drive, Suite 100. It no longer operates. The Riverside Superior Court issued a formal closure notice on November 26, 2024 stating that the building would close as of December 23, 2024, and attributing the decision to significant reductions in state funding for superior courts and the resulting cuts to the Riverside court's budget.
The notice is specific about what moved: effective Monday, December 23, 2024, the probate clerk's office, calendars, and self-help services relocated to the Southwest Justice Center at 30755-D Auld Road in Murrieta, with probate cases assigned and heard in department S101.
We want to be precise about the relationship between the two buildings, because it is easy to get backwards. The Southwest Justice Center did not take over as Temecula's criminal court — it was always the criminal court for this region. The court lists civil harassment, criminal, traffic, and juvenile at Auld Road, and southwest county arrests have been calendared there throughout. What changed in December 2024 is that Southwest also picked up the probate work Temecula had been carrying. Neither building replaced the other in any broader sense; one closed and the other absorbed a specific calendar.
For families in Temecula, the practical effect on a criminal case is close to zero. The relevant addresses were already in Murrieta: the criminal courthouse and the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center share the same Auld Road complex, about fifteen minutes north on the 15.

Court hours and jail release timing are two different clocks. Temecula Courthouse runs on a weekday court calendar; the jail holding your family member runs 24 hours a day.

There are no current hours for County Center Drive. The Riverside Superior Court's limited clerk phone hours of 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding court holidays, apply at the Southwest Justice Center that absorbed this building's calendar. The court's general public line is (951) 777-3147.
Jail hours are unaffected by any of this. The Byrd Detention Center processes releases around the clock, so a bond accepted overnight does not wait for a courthouse — closed or open.

What the Temecula building carried and where each piece sits now. Confirm against your own notice, since older paperwork still names County Center Drive.
The court's closure notice names probate specifically: the clerk's office, calendars, and self-help services moved to 30755-D Auld Road, Murrieta, with cases assigned to department S101.
Self-help services relocated alongside the probate clerk's office on the same December 23, 2024 effective date.
Arraignments, preliminary hearings, bail review under Penal Code §1270.1, and criminal trials for southwest Riverside County are heard at the Southwest Justice Center, and were before this closure.
Traffic is among the matters the court lists at Auld Road. Unresolved Temecula Valley citations are a routine source of later bench warrants.
The court maintains a separate Southwest Juvenile Courthouse. Juvenile proceedings are closed to the public and follow release rules distinct from adult bail.
The Menifee Justice Center, opened July 8, 2024, lists family law among its matters served along with civil, evictions, and small claims. Verify the location on your notice rather than assuming.
Bail review and reduction motions in California run under Penal Code §1270.1, and the starting figure comes from the Riverside County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule (effective October 20, 2025).
The courthouse closure has no bearing on posting bail, because bail is posted at the facility holding the defendant and never at a courthouse counter.
For a Temecula arrest, that facility is usually the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center on the Auld Road complex in Murrieta, or a municipal booking operation in the first hours after arrest. Temecula contracts with the Riverside County Sheriff rather than operating an independent police department, so custody tends to reach county hands quickly.
The amount comes from the county-wide Riverside Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule. Nothing about a southwest county booking changes the figure; the geography is what works in your favor here, with the jail and the criminal courthouse on one complex.

Every bond we write is issued by a California Department of Insurance licensed bail agent under Cal. Ins. Code §1800, at the statutory 10% premium.
A missed appearance at Temecula Courthouse can mean a forfeited bond and a bench warrant the same day. There is a statutory window to bring the defendant back before forfeiture becomes a judgment against the cosigner — call us immediately. Failure to appear bail bonds →
The custody facilities that serve the Temecula Valley. These did not move when the courthouse closed, and they are where a bond is actually posted.
30755-B Auld Rd, Murrieta, CA 92563
The county's southwest detention facility, roughly fifteen minutes north of Temecula on the 15 and on the same Auld Road complex as the region's criminal courthouse. Most Temecula defendants in county custody are held here.
2 Town Square, Murrieta, CA 92562
An independent municipal department covering neighboring Murrieta. Relevant to a Temecula family only when the arrest happened across the city line — worth ruling out by phone before assuming Byrd.
4000 Orange St, Riverside, CA 92501
The downtown Riverside county facility, roughly an hour north up the 215. It matters to a southwest county case only when a separate hold or warrant pulls someone north; confirm before making that drive.
