Facility Overview

The Blythe Jail is at 260 N Spring Street in Blythe, in the far-eastern corner of Riverside County near the Colorado River and the Arizona state line. It is operated by the Riverside County Sheriff's Office and is the only county custody facility for hundreds of square miles.

Distance is the whole story here. Blythe is roughly 230 miles from downtown Riverside on Interstate 10 — a drive of about four hours in good conditions, and closer to Phoenix than to its own county seat. Advice that works in Corona or Murrieta does not automatically travel this far east.

It is also a smaller facility than the county's four detention centers, which changes what happens over time. Short holds resolve locally. Longer holds tend to move west toward larger facilities, and once that transfer runs, the release address is most of a day's driving away from the family waiting in Blythe.

Nothing is adjudicated inside the jail. Cases go to the Blythe Courthouse a few blocks away, and a bond is written at the facility rather than at any court counter.

Hours & Visiting

Visiting runs on a scheduled, restricted calendar. Bail posting at Blythe Jail does not — a bond can be accepted at any hour of any day.

Confirm the current location before driving. On the eastern desert corridor a wrong assumption costs eight hours round trip, not thirty minutes.

The courthouse's limited calendar is the reason posting matters here. Waiting for a court day in Blythe is a genuinely longer wait than waiting for one in Riverside.

Visiting is scheduled through the Sheriff's Office. Bail posting has no schedule and is accepted overnight.

We work this corridor by phone and wire. Nobody needs to drive to Blythe to sign paperwork with us.

Booking & Custody Process

How an eastern desert arrest becomes a Blythe custody record.

01

Arrest On The Eastern Corridor

Blythe Police, Sheriff's deputies, CHP on the I-10, and Border Patrol referrals all generate arrests out here. Many charges resolve with a field citation under the 2025 schedule.

02

Booking At Spring Street

Bookings that proceed are processed locally rather than driven west. This is the only county facility within a practical distance.

03

Bail Set Under The County Schedule

The county-wide schedule applies. Scheduled charges carry a postable amount; Cite and Release and Book and Release charges carry none; Pre-Arraignment Review is its own track.

04

Local Court Or Wait

The Blythe Courthouse handles local matters on limited days. A case that misses a court day waits for the next one, which is longer here than almost anywhere else in California.

05

Possible Transfer West

Longer holds move toward the county's larger detention centers. This is the single most important status change to track on an eastern desert case.

06

Release

After the bond is accepted, the facility runs its discharge queue. Plan the pickup carefully — services and lodging in Blythe are limited overnight.

How To Post Bail At Blythe Jail

Premium on a California bail bond is set by the rate filed with the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800, the starting figure comes from the Riverside County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule (effective October 20, 2025), and review or reduction runs under Penal Code §1270.1.

On a scheduled charge, bail is set at booking, so a bond can post at Blythe overnight without waiting for the courthouse's next operating day.

That is a bigger deal here than in the western county. Where a Riverside defendant might wait until tomorrow morning, a Blythe defendant can be waiting on a courthouse calendar that does not sit every weekday.

Arraignment remains the first judicial review of the amount — the judge can keep, raise, or reduce it, or grant own-recognizance release, and bail can be revisited later in the case.

Give us a full legal name and date of birth. We confirm whether custody is still in Blythe or already moving west, verify the amount, and post at any hour. 10% premium, 1% down on approved credit.

2025 Release Categories

Riverside County's bail schedule effective October 20, 2025 sorts charges into Cite and Release, Book and Release, Pre-Arraignment Review, and standard scheduled bail. Geography changes nothing about which category a charge falls into — an arrest 230 miles east of the county seat is governed by the same schedule. Full explanation on the Riverside County hub.

If A Court Date Is Missed After Release

A bond written at Blythe Jail stays live through every appearance until the case resolves. A missed date can mean a forfeited bond and a bench warrant the same day, with a limited statutory window to bring the defendant back before the forfeiture becomes a judgment against the cosigner.
