Fullerton is also unusual in one respect: the courthouse that hears its cases is in the same city. The North Justice Center on Berkeley Avenue is a couple of miles north of the jail, which makes an out-of-custody appearance genuinely convenient once a bond has posted.

How To Post Bail At the Fullerton City Jail
Premium on a California bail bond is set by the rate filed with the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800, the starting figure comes from the Orange County 2026 Uniform Bail Schedule (effective January 1, 2026), and review or reduction runs under Penal Code §1270.1.

The amount comes from the Orange County 2026 Uniform Bail Schedule, adopted by the Superior Court under Penal Code §1269b(c). A judge may deviate at arraignment under Penal Code §1275, weighing public safety, the seriousness of the offense, and the defendant's record and likelihood of appearing.
On violent and serious felonies and a specific statutory list, Penal Code §1270.1 blocks release on any amount other than the scheduled figure until a hearing in open court.
In re Humphrey (2021) 11 Cal.5th 135 requires courts to consider ability to pay and non-financial conditions before setting money bail a defendant cannot afford. That happens at the hearing on Berkeley Avenue, not at this counter.
