Central Justice Center occupies 700 Civic Center Drive West in the Santa Ana civic center, the same few blocks that hold the county's Intake Release Center and Central Jail Complex. It is the widest-jurisdiction courthouse in Orange County: limited and unlimited civil, small claims, unlawful detainer and civil harassment, appellate matters, and the criminal felony, criminal misdemeanor, and traffic calendars.
Under the court's Court Designation List effective June 30, 2025, criminal and traffic cases from Santa Ana, Orange, Tustin, and Villa Park are designated here. Small claims for the entire county is heard and filed at this location, and limited and unlimited civil matters are tried here as well.
Two countywide functions also land in this building rather than in a regional justice center. Felony trials are assigned based on the availability of open trial courtrooms at any justice center, which in practice means serious felonies from across the county can be tried at Central. Mental health–related criminal matters are likewise handled through the central operation rather than in the regional buildings.
For a family, the geography is the useful fact. The courtroom is on Civic Center Drive West; the person in custody is on North Flower Street. A bond posts at the jail, not at the clerk's counter, and the walk between the two is short enough that people routinely assume they are the same operation. They are not — separate hours, separate entrances, separate screening.

Jail time and court time are separate clocks. The Intake Release Center processes bookings and releases through the night, so a bond accepted at 2 a.m. does not sit waiting for the courthouse to open at 8.

The court's appellate division sits in the central operation. Appeals do not set bail; a defendant already released on a bond stays released under the existing bond terms unless a judge orders otherwise.
How To Post Bail At Central Justice Center
Bail review and reduction motions in California run under Penal Code §1270.1, and the starting figure comes from the Orange County 2026 Uniform Bail Schedule (effective January 1, 2026).
Bail is posted at the facility holding the defendant, not at 700 Civic Center Drive West. For a case calendared here that is nearly always the Sheriff's Intake Release Center at 550 N Flower Street, a few blocks northwest, or one of the city jails run by Santa Ana, Orange, or Tustin in the first hours after arrest.
The number itself comes from the 2026 Uniform Bail Schedule of the Superior Court of California, County of Orange, approved by the judges of this court under Penal Code §1269b(c) and effective January 1, 2026. Misdemeanors and infractions are scheduled alongside felonies. Felony bail is computed per case from the highest single count plus enhancements, and larceny and fraud offenses use the scheduled figure or the loss amount, whichever is higher.
The premium is 10% of the bail amount, filed with the California Department of Insurance under Insurance Code §1800 — the statutory rate at every licensed California agency. Our down payment starts as low as 1% on approved credit, with the balance on a written plan and no surprise fees at signing.
If bail was set high at booking, a reduction motion is heard on this courthouse's criminal calendar. Call before the hearing rather than after — how a reduced figure interacts with a bond already posted depends on the order the judge signs, and it is much cheaper to plan for than to unwind.
