Needles has contracted its policing to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department since 1989, delivered from the Needles Patrol Station at 1111 Bailey Ave, Needles, CA 92363, (760) 326-9200 — a station that also houses a real Type I jail. We don't keep a Needles branch, and we are not going to pretend otherwise about a city 200 miles from the county seat. Needles is worked by phone with the local station and from our staffed San Bernardino office on Hospitality Lane — the same way we handle Blythe on the Riverside County side of the river.

What a Needles family needs: who has the person, why the local jail is the whole story out here, what happens if the case involves tribal land, what a bond costs, whether the charge carries scheduled bail at all, and every charge we write bonds for.

Licensed agents on every shift, honest answers about where your family member actually is, and financing built for families who didn't plan on an arrest this week.
Needles sits on the Colorado River at the Arizona border, roughly 200 miles from the city of San Bernardino, and it is the only real population center for the whole eastern end of a county that stretches past 20,000 square miles. That isolation is the operative fact. The Needles Patrol Station at 1111 Bailey Ave, (760) 326-9200, provides the city's contract law enforcement and houses a genuine Type I jail — booking and short-term custody happen here rather than requiring a three-hour transport before anything can be processed. The station's responsibility also extends to contract law enforcement for tribal communities along this stretch of the river, including the Fort Mojave Tribe, the Chemehuevi Tribe at Havasu Landing, and the Colorado River Indian Tribes at Big River. Needles also has its own Superior Court location, which a city of under 5,000 people would never otherwise justify. We are not linking that courthouse yet because our San Bernardino courthouse pages are not built.
A licensed agent answers the phone at 3 a.m. on a Sunday the same way we answer at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday. Needles bookings do not wait for business hours, and neither do we.
English and Spanish-speaking agents on every shift. Premium, cosigner obligations, and payment terms get explained in the language your family actually speaks.
Most bonds under $100,000 are written on a qualified signature alone — no property, no pink slip. Above that, collateral may be requested depending on the charge and how the cosigner qualifies.
California fixes the premium at 10% of the bail. The down payment is what flexes — as low as 1% on approved credit, with the balance on a written plan.
California License #1846101, with a staffed office at 165 W Hospitality Ln Ste 19C, San Bernardino, CA 92408 covering Needles — a real office with real agents, not a national call center routing your case to a stranger.
A Needles arrest is a county Sheriff's arrest from the first minute — but unlike most of this county, the whole first stage happens locally.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies working the Needles Patrol Station at 1111 Bailey Ave, Needles, CA 92363, (760) 326-9200 make the arrest. The city contracted its law enforcement to the county in December 1989, so there is no municipal PD stage. Prints, photograph, and record checks all have to clear before a bond can be accepted — and because a Type I jail is housed at the station, that entire stage happens in Needles rather than hundreds of miles west.
Bail is set from the Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule adopted under Penal Code §1269b(c). There are no Cite and Release or Book and Release categories in this county — that structure belongs to Riverside. San Bernardino runs a conventional schedule where Section B generally does not require bail on misdemeanors unless the offense is specifically listed.
Call (909) 643-8359 with a full legal name and date of birth. We check the Needles city booking and the San Bernardino County system, tell you where they are right now, and read back the exact bail amount and premium before you pay anything.
A short cosigner conversation — employment, residence, and how the balance gets paid. Most approvals take minutes, and most Needles bonds require no collateral.
We post at the facility holding the defendant, whether that's the city jail or the county detention centers after transfer. Release from a municipal booking area is usually faster; the county facilities run a processing queue that can take several hours, longer on weekends and holidays.
The remaining premium is paid on the written schedule agreed up front. No surprise fees, and we remind you of every court date so the bond stays in good standing.
Bail amounts for Needles arrests come from the San Bernardino County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule (effective January 1, 2026), the same county-wide schedule used for every other city in San Bernardino County.

The premium is fixed by California law. The down payment is where we can help.
Bail premium rates in California are filed with and approved by the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800. A bondsman quoting a Needles family less than the filed 10% premium as the total cost is quoting something they can't legally deliver.
Once the bond is posted the premium is earned in full — whether the case is dismissed at arraignment or runs two years. That's the price of the surety, not a deposit held against the bail.
Down payments start as low as 1% of the bail on approved credit. The remainder of the 10% premium is financed on a written plan with fixed installments you agree to before signing.
Most Needles bonds under $100,000 are written on a qualified cosigner's signature. Larger bonds may call for collateral depending on the charge and the cosigner's file.
| Bail Amount | 10% Premium | Down At 1% |
|---|---|---|
| $20,000 | $2,000 | $200 |
| $50,000 | $5,000 | $500 |
| $100,000 | $10,000 | $1,000 |
The 1% figure is a down payment on approved credit, not a discounted premium — the full 10% is still owed on the payment plan. For the full 1% through 10% tier comparison and who qualifies for each, see affordable bail bonds.
Needles handles its own booking. A hold that continues means a transport of roughly three hours west across the Mojave — which is exactly why the local window matters.
1111 Bailey Ave, Needles, CA 92363 · (760) 326-9200
A real Type I jail housed at the Sheriff's station that provides the city's contract law enforcement, along with contract coverage for tribal communities along the Colorado River. Booking and short-term custody happen here, which is the window where a bond ends the matter locally.
Where Needles Arrestees Transfer
Adelanto, CA
The county's principal High Desert custody facility, out in the Victor Valley, and the nearest large jail west along the 40 and 15. A dedicated facility page is still being built.
630 E Rialto Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92415
The county's downtown San Bernardino intake facility, roughly 200 miles west. This is the far end of the county from Needles, and a transfer here is measured in hours, not minutes.
Have these ready and we can locate the booking — city jail or county — and quote the premium on the first call.

Not required, but if you have it, it speeds up locating the record considerably.

Family, friend, or coworker — helps us know who to loop in on updates and paperwork.
Bail is set by the San Bernardino County Superior Court schedule, not by the city — so a Needles booking starts from the same figures as one anywhere else in the county. The ranges below are county schedule ranges, not city-specific numbers.
County schedule range: $5,000 – $100,000
A first misdemeanor DUI sits at the low end of the schedule and can sometimes release on citation. Priors, injury, or a high BAC push the amount up fast.
View PageCounty schedule range: $50,000 – $100,000
Corporal injury filings book high and usually come with a protective order at arraignment. Release conditions matter as much as the bond — we walk cosigners through both before anything is signed.
View PageCounty schedule range: $10,000 – $100,000+
Simple possession books low and often qualifies for diversion. Possession for sale and transportation book far higher, and weight or priors move the number quickly.
View PagePC §240 / §245(a)(1)
County schedule range: $25,000 – $50,000
Simple battery books at the low end. Assault with a deadly weapon is a strike-eligible felony and books substantially higher, often with additional enhancements filed.
View PagePC §484/§487 and PC §459
County schedule range: $20,000 – $50,000
Petty theft books low; grand theft and first-degree residential burglary book substantially higher and carry felony jail or prison exposure. Burglary has its own dedicated page on this site.
View PageNeedles is a Colorado River city of fewer than 5,000 people at the far eastern tip of San Bernardino County, right at the Arizona state line and not far from the Nevada corner. It was founded in 1883 with the railroad, incorporated its 32 square miles in 1913, and Route 66 still runs through downtown. Interstate 40 crosses the river here, which makes it the first California city a large share of eastbound and westbound travelers ever touch.
The city contracted with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department for law enforcement in December 1989, and that contract has functioned as the city's police department ever since. It is the same arrangement used by Yucca Valley and Adelanto, but the station here carries a much wider brief: contract law enforcement for the Fort Mojave Tribe, the Chemehuevi Tribe at Havasu Landing, and the Colorado River Indian Tribes at Big River, spread along a long stretch of river.
Tribal land is worth flagging separately rather than glossing over. Where an offense occurred, and the status of the people involved, can determine whether a case proceeds in the San Bernardino County Superior Court under the county bail schedule or in a tribal or federal forum instead. A commercial bail bond written against the county schedule does not apply the same way outside it. Tell us on the first call exactly where the arrest happened and we will tell you straight whether this is a bond we can write.
Needles is our eastern-edge exception, the San Bernardino County counterpart to Blythe further south on the same river: isolated, small, and served locally because the alternative is a half-day round trip. The city has its own Superior Court location for that reason. We are not naming a courthouse or department for a specific case on this page — the San Bernardino courthouse research is not finished, and we would rather leave a gap than invent an assignment. What we will confirm on the first call is whether the charge carries scheduled bail under the county bail schedule.
