One note on the address, because it circulates wrong online: this facility is in Joshua Tree, zip 92252. Some directories list a 91739 zip, which belongs to Rancho Cucamonga at the opposite end of the county. If a booking confirmation shows 91739 next to a Joshua Tree address, the zip is the typo, not the city.
The Morongo Basin Station is the third-largest Sheriff's station in the county by area and by call volume. It covers the incorporated City of Twentynine Palms and the Town of Yucca Valley under contract, plus the unincorporated stretches of Joshua Tree, Morongo Valley, Landers, and Wonder Valley. Nearly every arrest in that territory passes through this building.
What makes this jail worth posting at is the alternative. Basin custody that is not resolved locally moves into county detention over the mountain, an hour and a half of highway each way. A bond written while the defendant is still in Joshua Tree ends the matter in Joshua Tree.
