The Joshua Tree Courthouse sits at 6527 White Feather Road, a short turn off Twentynine Palms Highway in the middle of the Morongo Basin. Unlike most of the county's outlying locations, this one is a full working courthouse — and for bail purposes that distinction is everything.
The Superior Court's own filing guide lists this district as accepting felony and misdemeanor filings, traffic infractions, non-traffic infractions, small claims, limited landlord-tenant, family law, adoptions, emancipation, name changes, and the full set of restraining orders including domestic violence, elder abuse, gun violence, and workplace violence. Its published service area is Joshua Tree, Landers, Pioneertown, Twentynine Palms, and the unincorporated areas of Johnson Valley, Morongo Valley, and Yucca Valley.
That matters because the arrests and the arraignments run through the same small town. The Sheriff's Morongo Basin Station at 63665 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree is the patrol and booking presence for Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley, and the courthouse handling those cases is a few minutes up the road. One station, one courthouse, one basin.
There is one boundary the court draws explicitly, and it is worth knowing. Felony and misdemeanor filings for Big River, Goffs, and Havasu Landing are not heard here — those go to the Victorville District, while limited landlord-tenant, small claims, and infraction matters for the same communities are filed in Needles. The Superior Court lists clerk's office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding court holidays, for the Joshua Tree District.
Court hours and release hours are different things. The courthouse closes at 4:00; the jail does not. A bond posted at 2:00 a.m. releases a defendant at 2:00 a.m., and the arraignment simply happens on the next available calendar.

Free surface parking serves the courthouse. This is not a downtown structure — there is no paid deck, no validation, and no meter system.
From Twentynine Palms
West on Highway 62 roughly 15 miles to Joshua Tree, then north on White Feather Road. Allow extra time for highway traffic on holiday weekends when park visitors fill the corridor.
From Yucca Valley
East on Highway 62 about 8 miles, then north on White Feather Road. A short drive, but the Highway 62 corridor is the only route — a single incident can stall the whole basin.

How To Post Bail At Joshua Tree Courthouse
Bail review and reduction motions in California run under Penal Code §1270.1, and the starting figure comes from the San Bernardino County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule (effective January 1, 2026).
Bail is not posted at this courthouse, or at any courthouse in California. What happens here is the arraignment and, when it comes up, the argument over the amount. The bond itself goes to the jail.
After a Morongo Basin arrest, that jail is the Sheriff's Morongo Basin Station in Joshua Tree in the first hours. If the defendant is transported into county custody, the bond follows them to the Central Detention Center at 630 East Rialto Avenue in San Bernardino — roughly a hundred miles away, which is precisely why posting early is worth so much out here.
The number starts with the San Bernardino County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule adopted under Penal Code §1269b(c). A judge may deviate from it under Penal Code §1275 after considering public safety, the seriousness of the offense, the defendant's prior record, and the probability of appearance. In re Humphrey (2021) requires the court to consider ability to pay and less restrictive alternatives before setting an amount that results in detention — so an amount that would keep someone in custody has to be justified, not just copied off a schedule.
