Big Bear Lake has no city police department — the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department polices it under contract from the Big Bear Lake Patrol Station, 477 Summit Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315, (909) 866-0100. We work the mountain 24 hours a day. 10% premium, 1% down on approved credit.

We don't keep a Big Bear branch. The city is worked from our staffed San Bernardino office on Hospitality Lane and by phone with the Big Bear Lake station on Summit Boulevard — which matters here, because the drive up the mountain is the slowest part of the whole process.

Licensed agents on every shift, honest answers about where your family member actually is, and financing built for families who didn't plan on an arrest this week.
The station serving Big Bear Lake is the Big Bear Lake Patrol Station at 477 Summit Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315, (909) 866-0100. That is the correct name and address — the Sheriff's Department also refers to the operation informally as the Big Bear station, and both names point at the same building, so do not lose time chasing a second facility that does not exist. It is a contract law enforcement operation: it provides the City of Big Bear Lake's police service and also patrols roughly 258 square miles of unincorporated mountain including Big Bear City, Sugarloaf, Fawnskin, Baldwin Lake, and Erwin Lake. A Type I jail is housed in the same county building. That combination is what makes Big Bear workable — the arrest, the booking, and the local custody are all in one place on the mountain, instead of requiring a run down Highway 18 before anything can happen.
A licensed agent answers the phone at 3 a.m. on a Sunday the same way we answer at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday. Big Bear Lake bookings do not wait for business hours, and neither do we.
English and Spanish-speaking agents on every shift. Premium, cosigner obligations, and payment terms get explained in the language your family actually speaks.
Most bonds under $100,000 are written on a qualified signature alone — no property, no pink slip. Above that, collateral may be requested depending on the charge and how the cosigner qualifies.
California fixes the premium at 10% of the bail. The down payment is what flexes — as low as 1% on approved credit, with the balance on a written plan.
California License #1846101, with a staffed office at 165 W Hospitality Ln Ste 19C, San Bernardino, CA 92408 covering Big Bear Lake — a real office with real agents, not a national call center routing your case to a stranger.
A Big Bear Lake arrest is a county Sheriff's arrest from the first minute, but it is handled on the mountain before anything moves down the hill.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies working the Big Bear Lake Patrol Station at 477 Summit Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315, (909) 866-0100 make the arrest. Big Bear Lake contracts its policing to the county rather than running an independent department, so there is no city PD stage. Prints, photograph, and record checks all have to clear before a bond can be accepted — and because a Type I jail sits in the same county building, that entire first stage happens on the mountain.
Bail is set from the Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule adopted under Penal Code §1269b(c). There are no Cite and Release or Book and Release categories in this county — that structure belongs to Riverside. San Bernardino runs a conventional schedule where Section B generally does not require bail on misdemeanors unless the offense is specifically listed.
Call (909) 643-8359 with a full legal name and date of birth. We check the Big Bear Lake city booking and the San Bernardino County system, tell you where they are right now, and read back the exact bail amount and premium before you pay anything.
A short cosigner conversation — employment, residence, and how the balance gets paid. Most approvals take minutes, and most Big Bear Lake bonds require no collateral.
We post at the facility holding the defendant, whether that's the city jail or the county detention centers after transfer. Release from a municipal booking area is usually faster; the county facilities run a processing queue that can take several hours, longer on weekends and holidays.
The remaining premium is paid on the written schedule agreed up front. No surprise fees, and we remind you of every court date so the bond stays in good standing.
Bail amounts for Big Bear Lake arrests come from the San Bernardino County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule (effective January 1, 2026), the same county-wide schedule used for every other city in San Bernardino County.

The premium is fixed by California law. The down payment is where we can help.
Bail premium rates in California are filed with and approved by the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800. A bondsman quoting a Big Bear Lake family less than the filed 10% premium as the total cost is quoting something they can't legally deliver.
Once the bond is posted the premium is earned in full — whether the case is dismissed at arraignment or runs two years. That's the price of the surety, not a deposit held against the bail.
Down payments start as low as 1% of the bail on approved credit. The remainder of the 10% premium is financed on a written plan with fixed installments you agree to before signing.
Most Big Bear Lake bonds under $100,000 are written on a qualified cosigner's signature. Larger bonds may call for collateral depending on the charge and the cosigner's file.
| Bail Amount | 10% Premium | Down At 1% |
|---|---|---|
| $20,000 | $2,000 | $200 |
| $50,000 | $5,000 | $500 |
| $100,000 | $10,000 | $1,000 |
The 1% figure is a down payment on approved credit, not a discounted premium — the full 10% is still owed on the payment plan. For the full 1% through 10% tier comparison and who qualifies for each, see affordable bail bonds.
The mountain handles its own first stage. Anything longer means a trip down Highway 18 or 330 into the valley.
477 Summit Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315 · (909) 866-0100
The contract law enforcement station for the City of Big Bear Lake and the surrounding mountain communities. A Type I jail is housed within the same county building, so booking and short-term custody stay on the mountain.
Where Big Bear Lake Arrestees Transfer
630 E Rialto Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92415
The county's downtown San Bernardino intake facility, down the mountain highways and the usual destination for a Big Bear hold that continues past local processing.
9500 Etiwanda Ave, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739
The county's west-valley jail. Uncommon for a mountain arrest, but classification, capacity, or an open hold in the west end can route someone there instead.
Have these ready and we can locate the booking — city jail or county — and quote the premium on the first call.

Not required, but if you have it, it speeds up locating the record considerably.

Family, friend, or coworker — helps us know who to loop in on updates and paperwork.
Bail is set by the San Bernardino County Superior Court schedule, not by the city — so a Big Bear Lake booking starts from the same figures as one anywhere else in the county. The ranges below are county schedule ranges, not city-specific numbers.
County schedule range: $5,000 – $100,000
A first misdemeanor DUI sits at the low end of the schedule and can sometimes release on citation. Priors, injury, or a high BAC push the amount up fast.
View PageCounty schedule range: $50,000 – $100,000
Corporal injury filings book high and usually come with a protective order at arraignment. Release conditions matter as much as the bond — we walk cosigners through both before anything is signed.
View PageCounty schedule range: $10,000 – $100,000+
Simple possession books low and often qualifies for diversion. Possession for sale and transportation book far higher, and weight or priors move the number quickly.
View PagePC §240 / §245(a)(1)
County schedule range: $25,000 – $50,000
Simple battery books at the low end. Assault with a deadly weapon is a strike-eligible felony and books substantially higher, often with additional enhancements filed.
View PagePC §484/§487 and PC §459
County schedule range: $20,000 – $50,000
Petty theft books low; grand theft and first-degree residential burglary book substantially higher and carry felony jail or prison exposure. Burglary has its own dedicated page on this site.
View PageBig Bear Lake is a mountain resort city of roughly 5,000 permanent residents at about 6,750 feet in the San Bernardino National Forest, and on a busy winter weekend it holds many times that. Bear Mountain and Snow Summit, the lake, and the Village drive the economy, and the population swing between a Tuesday in October and a Saturday in January is the single most distinctive fact about how this city operates.
There is no Big Bear Lake Police Department. Law enforcement is contracted to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and delivered from the Big Bear Lake Patrol Station on Summit Boulevard, which also patrols the unincorporated mountain around the city. That is the same contract arrangement used by Yucca Valley and Highland, and unlike Redlands down the hill, which runs its own department.
A lot of Big Bear arrests involve visitors rather than residents — DUI, public intoxication, and fight calls out of the Village and the resorts, often involving someone whose home address is in Orange County or the Inland Empire. An out-of-area defendant is a genuine underwriting factor and can push the down payment above 1%, but it is not an automatic decline. We quote the tier honestly on the first call rather than advertising a number and revising it once we see the file.
Big Bear Lake cases are filed in the San Bernardino County Superior Court system with bail set from the county-wide schedule rather than any city rule. We are not naming a courthouse or department for a specific case on this page — the San Bernardino courthouse research is not finished, and we would rather leave a gap than invent an assignment. What we will confirm on the first call is whether the charge carries scheduled bail under the county bail schedule.
