Bail FAQs
The Needles Jail is a Type I facility at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Colorado River Station, 1111 Bailey Avenue. It is the county's easternmost custody point, on the California side of the Colorado River within sight of the Arizona line.
The co-location is worth stating plainly: the Needles Courthouse operates at this same 1111 Bailey Avenue address. Jail and courthouse, one complex. In most of the county those are separate trips across separate cities; here they are the same parking lot.
That does not mean a criminal case is resolved here. The Needles Courthouse hears civil, family law, and infraction matters. Criminal filings arising from a Needles arrest travel to the Victorville Courthouse, about 145 miles west across Interstate 40 — the longest routine jail-to-criminal-court gap in San Bernardino County.
So the jail's function is holding, and the family's window is short. While the booking is still on Bailey Avenue, a bond releases someone in Needles. Once transport is arranged, everything about this case moves to the High Desert and stays there.

Visiting runs on a scheduled, restricted calendar. Bail posting at Needles does not — a bond can be accepted at any hour of any day.

Station office hours are weekday business hours. Bail is not on that schedule — a bond written overnight is accepted overnight.
Needles is on Pacific time and shares a border with Arizona, which does not observe daylight saving. When someone relays a court time from across the river, confirm which clock it came from.
Confirm the hold before making the drive. From the valley, Needles is a three-hour highway run each way; from Victorville it is still roughly 145 miles.
Court hours in this building have nothing to do with bail posting, and the criminal calendar is not in this building at all.

How an eastern desert arrest becomes a Bailey Avenue custody record.
Needles contracts with the Sheriff's Department for policing, so deputies from the Colorado River Station handle arrests in the city and the surrounding desert.
Custody comes to the Colorado River Station, where the Type I jail creates the booking record a bond attaches to — in the same complex as the courthouse.
Fingerprints, warrant checks, and screening run first. A booking still in intake cannot be released regardless of how fast a bond is written.
Bail on a scheduled charge is set at booking under the San Bernardino County felony and misdemeanor schedule (Penal Code §1269b(c)) — no court appearance needed first.
Type I means short-term. Longer custody, and any criminal case, moves toward the High Desert Detention Center and the Victorville calendar, 145 miles away.
Bond accepted, paperwork cleared, discharge on site at Bailey Avenue. The fastest release in this town is the one that happens before transport is scheduled.
Premium on a California bail bond is set by the rate filed with the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800, the starting figure comes from the San Bernardino County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule (effective January 1, 2026), and review or reduction runs under Penal Code §1270.1.
Bail on a scheduled charge is set at booking, so a bond posts in Needles without waiting for any calendar. Nowhere in the county does that matter more — the criminal courtroom for this jail is a two-and-a-half-hour drive away.
The amount comes from the San Bernardino County felony and misdemeanor bail schedule, adopted annually under Penal Code §1269b(c). A judge can deviate from it at arraignment under Penal Code §1275, weighing public safety, the seriousness of the offense, and the defendant's record and likelihood of appearing.
In re Humphrey (2021) 11 Cal.5th 135 requires courts to consider ability to pay and non-financial conditions before setting money bail a defendant cannot afford. That review happens at the hearing, not at the jail counter — until then, the scheduled amount is what the facility will accept.
Give us a full legal name and date of birth. We confirm the current facility, verify the amount, and post at any hour. 10% premium, 1% down on approved credit.
A bond written at Needles Jail stays live through every appearance until the case resolves. A missed date can mean a forfeited bond and a bench warrant the same day, with a limited statutory window to bring the defendant back before the forfeiture becomes a judgment against the cosigner. Written from this jail's perspective: the courthouse could not be closer — it is the same address — and it is still not where a criminal case is heard.
