The Superior Court lists Mental Health Court at 400 North Pepper Avenue in Colton, on the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center campus rather than in a conventional courthouse. That siting is not decorative — placing the calendar next to the county's hospital and behavioral health resources is the point. Some third-party directories list a 5400 North Pepper Avenue address; confirm the location on your notice before you drive, because those are different places.
This is a criminal calendar, but a specialty one. It handles matters where a defendant's mental health is central: competency to stand trial under Penal Code §1368, mental health diversion under Penal Code §1001.36, Lanterman-Petris-Short conservatorship and civil commitment questions, and ongoing supervision of defendants in court-monitored treatment.
What it is not is the courtroom where bail is first set. Arraignments for valley cases run at the San Bernardino Justice Center or the regional courthouse for the arresting agency, and a bond is posted at the jail holding the defendant. The mental health calendar picks the case up from there. Penal Code §1275 still governs any bond written — the court can inquire into the source of the funds — but the bail-schedule mechanics described on the San Bernardino County page belong to the general criminal division.
Where custody and mental health intersect, we will not overclaim. A competency suspension can mean commitment for restoration rather than release, and it can leave a family holding a bond on a case that is going nowhere for months. Diversion can end in release to a treatment program, or in a defendant staying in custody while eligibility is litigated. Those are legal outcomes decided by a judge with input from defense counsel and the district attorney.
