Why Choose Midnight In Montclair

Licensed agents on every shift, honest answers about where your family member actually is, and financing built for families who didn't plan on an arrest this week.

01

Montclair Runs Its Own Department — And Sits On The LA County Line

Montclair Police Department at 4870 Arrow Hwy, Montclair, CA 91763, (909) 448-3600 is an independent municipal agency with its own booking operation. That is worth confirming rather than assuming, because several cities in this county are policed under Sheriff's contracts branded with the city's own name. The second thing to establish in Montclair is which county you are in at all: the city line runs against Pomona and Claremont in Los Angeles County, and an arrest a few blocks west is an LA County matter with a different jail, a different court, and a different bail schedule.

02

24/7 Availability

A licensed agent answers the phone at 3 a.m. on a Sunday the same way we answer at 3 p.m. on a Wednesday. Montclair bookings do not wait for business hours, and neither do we.

03

Bilingual Agents

English and Spanish-speaking agents on every shift. Premium, cosigner obligations, and payment terms get explained in the language your family actually speaks.

04

No Collateral In Most Cases

Most bonds under $100,000 are written on a qualified signature alone — no property, no pink slip. Above that, collateral may be requested depending on the charge and how the cosigner qualifies.

05

Affordable Payment Plans

California fixes the premium at 10% of the bail. The down payment is what flexes — as low as 1% on approved credit, with the balance on a written plan.

06

Licensed & Accountable

California License #1846101, with a staffed office at 165 W Hospitality Ln Ste 19C, San Bernardino, CA 92408 covering Montclair — a real office with real agents, not a national call center routing your case to a stranger.

How Bail Bonds Work In Montclair

A Montclair arrest starts with a city agency. If custody continues it moves to the county's West Valley facility — assuming the arrest was on the San Bernardino County side of the line.

1

Arrest & Booking Through Montclair Police Department

Montclair Police Department officers make the arrest and processing begins at 4870 Arrow Hwy, Montclair, CA 91763, (909) 448-3600. Prints, photograph, and record checks have to clear before a bond can be accepted. Municipal holding is short-term by design, and a bond posted inside that window can end the custody before a county transfer changes the address.

2

Charge Checked Against The County Bail Schedule

Bail is set from the Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule adopted under Penal Code §1269b(c). San Bernardino has no Cite and Release or Book and Release tracks — that is Riverside's structure. It runs a conventional schedule where Section B generally does not require bail on misdemeanors unless the offense is specifically listed. If the arrest happened across the line in Los Angeles County, the LA County schedule governs instead, and the amounts are not the same.

3

Call Midnight — We Confirm Where They Are

Call (909) 643-8359 with a full legal name and date of birth. We check the Montclair city booking and the San Bernardino County system, tell you where they are right now, and read back the exact bail amount and premium before you pay anything.

4

Qualification & Approval

A short cosigner conversation — employment, residence, and how the balance gets paid. Most approvals take minutes, and most Montclair bonds require no collateral.

5

Bond Posted Where They Actually Are

We post at the facility holding the defendant, whether that's the city jail or the county detention centers after transfer. Release from a municipal booking area is usually faster; the county facilities run a processing queue that can take several hours, longer on weekends and holidays.

6

Payment Plan Begins

The remaining premium is paid on the written schedule agreed up front. No surprise fees, and we remind you of every court date so the bond stays in good standing.

Bail amounts for Montclair arrests come from the San Bernardino County Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Schedule (effective January 1, 2026), the same county-wide schedule used for every other city in San Bernardino County.

San Bernardino County Release Categories
Ask whether the charge carries scheduled bail before you pay anyone. Under Section B most misdemeanors do not require bail unless specifically noted, and the court states a magistrate may set zero bail under In re Humphrey. In a border city like Montclair, also confirm which county's schedule applies. Full explanation on the San Bernardino County hub.

What Bail Bonds Cost In Montclair

The premium is fixed by California law. The down payment is where we can help.

The Premium Is 10% — By Law

Bail premium rates in California are filed with and approved by the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800. A bondsman quoting a Montclair family less than the filed 10% premium as the total cost is quoting something they can't legally deliver.

The Premium Is Earned, Not Refundable

Once the bond is posted the premium is earned in full — whether the case is dismissed at arraignment or runs two years. That's the price of the surety, not a deposit held against the bail.

The Down Payment Is What's Negotiable

Down payments start as low as 1% of the bail on approved credit. The remainder of the 10% premium is financed on a written plan with fixed installments you agree to before signing.

Collateral Isn't Usually Required

Most Montclair bonds under $100,000 are written on a qualified cosigner's signature. Larger bonds may call for collateral depending on the charge and the cosigner's file.

Bail Amount10% PremiumDown At 1%
$20,000$2,000$200
$50,000$5,000$500
$100,000$10,000$1,000

The 1% figure is a down payment on approved credit, not a discounted premium — the full 10% is still owed on the payment plan. For the full 1% through 10% tier comparison and who qualifies for each, see affordable bail bonds.

Montclair Jails We Serve

Montclair handles the first hours. A continuing San Bernardino County hold goes east to West Valley — but if the arrest was on the LA side of the line, the destination is a completely different system.

Montclair Police Department

4870 Arrow Hwy, Montclair, CA 91763

(909) 448-3600

The city's independent municipal police department and the first stop for a Montclair arrest. Short-term holding only — this is the window where a bond can end the custody before the county transfer.

Where Montclair Arrestees Transfer

West Valley Detention Center

9500 Etiwanda Ave, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739

The county's west-end intake facility, about fifteen minutes east and the normal destination for a Montclair hold that continues past municipal processing. Much closer than the downtown San Bernardino facilities.

Central Detention Center

630 E Rialto Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92415

The county's downtown San Bernardino intake facility, roughly forty minutes east. Not the usual west-end destination, but it appears on classification moves and longer holds. A dedicated facility page is still being built.

What We Need When You Call

Have these ready and we can locate the booking — city jail or county — and quote the premium on the first call.

01

Defendant's Full Legal Name

First, middle, and last as it appears on their ID. Nicknames slow the jail search.

02

Date of Birth

Prevents confusion when multiple people share the same name in the booking system.

03

City or County of Arrest

Tells us which jail to check first — Riverside, San Bernardino, LA, Orange, or San Diego.

04

Booking Number (If Available)

Not required, but if you have it, it speeds up locating the record considerably.

05

Cosigner Contact Info

Cosigner's name, phone, employer, and general credit range — this is what determines your financing terms.

06

Your Relationship to the Defendant

Family, friend, or coworker — helps us know who to loop in on updates and paperwork.

Most Common Bail Charges In Montclair

Bail is set by the San Bernardino County Superior Court schedule, not by the city — so a Montclair booking starts from the same figures as one anywhere else in the county. The ranges below are county schedule ranges, not city-specific numbers.

DUI

VC §23152

County schedule range: $5,000 – $100,000

A first misdemeanor DUI sits at the low end of the schedule and can sometimes release on citation. Priors, injury, or a high BAC push the amount up fast.

View Page

Domestic Violence

PC §273.5

County schedule range: $50,000 – $100,000

Corporal injury filings book high and usually come with a protective order at arraignment. Release conditions matter as much as the bond — we walk cosigners through both before anything is signed.

View Page

Drug Possession & Sale

HS §11350, HS §11351 / §11352

County schedule range: $10,000 – $100,000+

Simple possession books low and often qualifies for diversion. Possession for sale and transportation book far higher, and weight or priors move the number quickly.

View Page

Assault & Battery

PC §240 / §245(a)(1)

County schedule range: $25,000 – $50,000

Simple battery books at the low end. Assault with a deadly weapon is a strike-eligible felony and books substantially higher, often with additional enhancements filed.

View Page

Theft & Burglary

PC §484/§487 and PC §459

County schedule range: $20,000 – $50,000

Petty theft books low; grand theft and first-degree residential burglary book substantially higher and carry felony jail or prison exposure. Burglary has its own dedicated page on this site.

About Montclair

Montclair is a compact city of roughly 37,000 people at the extreme western edge of San Bernardino County, pressed against Pomona and Claremont on the Los Angeles County line. It is best known for the Montclair Place mall and the transit center where Metrolink and Foothill Transit meet, and the 10 Freeway runs across the southern part of the city. For its size it moves a lot of people through — regional shopping, regional transit, and a freeway all in about five and a half square miles.

Montclair Police Department at 4870 Arrow Hwy, (909) 448-3600, is an independent municipal agency — the same category as Upland and Ontario, and unlike neighboring Rancho Cucamonga, which is policed under a Sheriff's contract. In the west valley you cannot assume either arrangement; you have to check the city.

The thing that trips up Montclair families more than anything else is the county line. Montclair sits directly against Pomona and Claremont, and those are Los Angeles County cities with an entirely separate jail system, a separate court system, and a separate bail schedule. Someone arrested at the mall is in San Bernardino County. Someone arrested a few blocks west on the same street may be in LA County and headed for a completely different facility. Before we quote anything, we establish which county has the booking, because the wrong assumption sends a family to the wrong building in the wrong city.

Montclair cases on the San Bernardino County side are filed in the San Bernardino County Superior Court system, with bail set from the county-wide schedule. We are not naming a courthouse or department for a specific case on this page — that research is not finished, and inventing an assignment would do real harm. Use the court's own information until those pages are live. What we will confirm on the first call, before you pay anything, is which county has the booking and whether the charge carries scheduled bail under the county bail schedule.
