Facility Overview

The Palmdale Jail operates at 1020 E Palmdale Blvd, Palmdale, CA 93550, in the Antelope Valley, high desert north of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is a municipal booking and short-hold facility rather than a place where anyone serves time.

It books and briefly holds arrests made in Palmdale, the southern half of the Antelope Valley — identification, fingerprints, warrant checks, and a cell for the hours between an arrest and either a bail release or a transfer into Los Angeles County custody.

Palmdale has no adult criminal courthouse of its own. Cases from this station are calendared at the Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse in Lancaster, the same building that hears Lancaster bookings. The other Lancaster courthouse — the Alfred J. McCourtney Juvenile Justice Center — is for juvenile and dependency matters and is not where an adult defendant appears.

No case is heard at the jail address, and no bail is accepted at a court counter. The bond always goes to the facility physically holding the defendant.

Hours & Visiting

Visiting runs on a scheduled, restricted calendar. Bail posting at Palmdale Jail does not — a bond can be accepted at any hour of any day.

Bail bonds accepted24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Front counterStaffed around the clock for custody inquiries
Booking to bailableCommonly a few hours once records checks clear
Typical local releaseOften within a couple of hours of the bond being accepted
Midnight Bail BondsOpen 24 hours, every day

Jail hours and court hours are separate systems. The Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse keeps weekday business hours; a bond is accepted at this facility overnight, on weekends, and on holidays.

Booking has to clear before anything posts. That is the usual reason a family is told to wait after an arrest.

Transfers run on the Sheriff's schedule, not on request. Once one leaves, the release point moves.

Visiting arrangements at a municipal facility are limited and change often — call (661) 267-4300 before driving out.

How To Post Bail At Palmdale Jail

Premium on a California bail bond is set by the rate filed with the Department of Insurance under Cal. Ins. Code §1800, the starting figure comes from the Los Angeles Superior Court bail schedule, and review or reduction runs under Penal Code §1270.1.

Bail on a Palmdale arrest is set at booking under the county schedule. No hearing is required and no courtroom has to be open, which is why a bond can be written at three in the morning.

Where the bond lands decides the wait. Posted here, it is a quick local release; posted after a county transfer, it runs through the far slower downtown discharge process instead.

Arraignment at the Michael D. Antonovich Antelope Valley Courthouse is the first judicial review of the amount — it can be kept, raised, reduced, or replaced with own-recognizance release, and either side can move to revisit bail later.

Under Cal. Ins. Code §1800, a licensed bail agent is the party authorized to post a surety bond on a defendant's behalf. Call with a full legal name and date of birth; we confirm the booking and facility, verify the amount, and post at any hour — 10% premium, 1% down on approved credit.

If A Court Date Is Missed After Release

A bond written at Palmdale Jail stays live through every appearance until the case resolves. A missed date can mean a forfeited bond and a bench warrant the same day, with a limited statutory window to bring the defendant back before the forfeiture becomes a judgment against the cosigner.
