Juvenile Court FAQs
The Sylmar Juvenile Courthouse is located at 16350 Filbert Street in the Sylmar area of Los Angeles, at the north end of the San Fernando Valley. It handles juvenile delinquency matters — cases in which a minor is alleged to have committed an offense.
The Valley has several Superior Court locations and they are easy to confuse. San Fernando Courthouse on Third Street, Van Nuys West on Erwin Street Mall, and Van Nuys East on Sylmar Avenue are general-jurisdiction adult courts carrying criminal, traffic, civil, and family calendars. Sylmar Juvenile Court is not one of them. Note in particular that "Sylmar Avenue" in Van Nuys is a street name, not this courthouse — a genuine source of wrong turns for Valley families.
Juvenile delinquency is its own legal framework. The proceedings are aimed at supervision and rehabilitation rather than adult sentencing, the terminology differs from adult criminal practice, and hearings are generally confidential rather than open to the public. Minors are kept out of adult criminal facilities entirely, which is the practical reason a dedicated juvenile courthouse exists at all.
As a bail bond company, our honest position is that we have no role inside a juvenile delinquency case: there is no bail schedule figure to post and no bond to write. Our role begins where the adult system does — a parent, guardian, or older relative in custody on a separate criminal case at one of the Valley courthouses. We locate them, confirm the amount, and post at any hour so they can be present for what happens here.

Ongoing review hearings on compliance with the court's orders and juvenile probation supervision terms.
Adult criminal cases, arraignments, bail hearings, traffic matters, and family law — those route to San Fernando, Van Nuys West, or Van Nuys East.
