The Glendale Courthouse stands at 600 East Broadway, in the Broadway corridor near Glendale's civic center. It is one of the two working courthouses in the Los Angeles Superior Court's North Central District, and it handles a specific, limited slice of the docket rather than the full range of matters you would find downtown.
What is heard here: misdemeanor criminal calendars, with DUI matters in Departments 1 and 2; traffic in Department 3; and limited civil work — small claims, unlawful detainer, and restraining orders. For most people whose case starts with a Glendale Police arrest or a citation written in the city, this is the building on the notice.
What is not heard here matters just as much. Felony matters filed at Glendale, and family law cases filed at Glendale, are transferred to Burbank Courthouse at 300 East Olive Avenue for further proceedings. That means a felony preliminary hearing on a Glendale-origin case is calendared in Burbank, not on Broadway. Families who assume the courthouse follows the arresting agency end up in the wrong lobby.
Practically, this is a busy, compact courthouse with no public parking lot of its own. Between the street-parking situation, the security line, and the midday recess, an appearance here is a half-day commitment even when the matter itself takes four minutes. And like every courthouse in the county, it does not hold anyone and does not accept bail money — the bond is posted at the jail, not the courtroom.
Official court information: Superior Court of Los Angeles County — Glendale Courthouse
Court hours and jail release timing are two different clocks. Glendale Courthouse runs on a weekday court calendar; the jail holding your family member runs 24 hours a day.
| Courthouse building | Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. |
|---|---|
| Clerk's office | Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. |
| Typical courtroom sessions | 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. |
| Saturday, Sunday & court holidays | Closed |
| Midnight Bail Bonds | Open 24 hours, every day |
Court hours and jail release timing are separate systems. The courthouse keeps weekday hours; the jail holding a Glendale defendant accepts bail bonds at any hour, including nights, weekends, and court holidays.
When bail is already set at the county schedule amount, posting does not wait for a courtroom. The bond is delivered to the facility holding the defendant — Glendale City Jail on a fresh booking, or the county system downtown after transfer.
Release timing follows the facility. A Glendale city jail release can move in a couple of hours; once someone has been transferred to the Inmate Reception Center downtown, processing commonly runs several hours and stretches longer overnight and on weekends.
Add time on the front end. With no courthouse lot, finding street parking plus clearing security before an 8:30 a.m. calendar realistically means arriving 30–45 minutes early.

Parking here is the single most common complaint we hear about this courthouse: there is no public courthouse lot, so it is street parking only.
The courthouse does not provide a public parking structure or lot for visitors. Plan on street parking, a nearby private lot at your own cost, or being dropped off — do not arrive assuming you can pull into a courthouse garage.
Street parking in the Broadway corridor carries posted time limits and metered spaces, and Glendale enforces them. A morning calendar that carries into the 1:30 p.m. session will outlast most posted limits, which is how people come out to a citation on top of a court date.
All visitors pass through screening at entry. Weapons, recording devices, and cameras are prohibited without prior authorization. Add 20–30 minutes for the entry line on a busy morning calendar.
Glendale runs a defined set of calendars — misdemeanor criminal, traffic, and limited civil — and sends its felony and family law work to Burbank.
Misdemeanor criminal calendars, including DUI matters, are heard in Departments 1 and 2. Arraignment, pretrial conferences, and misdemeanor resolution happen on these calendars.
Traffic matters are handled in Department 3. Traffic and misdemeanor criminal are different calendars in different rooms, so the department number on your citation or notice decides where you go.
The courthouse hears limited civil matters including small claims and unlawful detainer (eviction) proceedings, which run on their own calendars separate from the criminal side of the building.
Restraining order matters are heard at this location. Note the distinction: family-law restraining orders tied to a family law case follow that case to Burbank, where family law for this district is heard.
Felony matters and family law cases filed at Glendale are transferred to Burbank Courthouse, 300 E Olive Ave, for further proceedings — including felony preliminary hearings. If your case was filed as a felony, expect substantive appearances in Burbank.
No bail is accepted at the courthouse counter, no one is held here overnight, and downtown in-custody first appearances happen at Central Arraignment Courthouse on Bauchet Street rather than in Glendale.
Bail review and reduction motions in California run under Penal Code §1270.1, and the starting figure comes from the Los Angeles Superior Court bail schedule.
On a Glendale arrest, bail is set administratively at booking under the Los Angeles County bail schedule, long before a department on Broadway calls the case. That scheduled amount can be posted immediately, which is how most defendants are released before their first appearance.
The first judicial look at bail comes at arraignment on the misdemeanor calendar in Department 1 or 2. The judge can keep the scheduled amount, adjust it, or release the defendant on their own recognizance, and either side can later move to change bail under the hearing rules cited above.
On a felony, that review will usually happen in Burbank rather than here, because felony proceedings on Glendale-filed cases are transferred there. The bond itself does not change when the case moves — it stays live, and the obligation to appear follows the case to the new courthouse.
The bond is posted where the defendant is held: Glendale City Jail on a local booking, or the county facilities downtown after transfer. Give us a full legal name and date of birth and we locate the booking, confirm the amount, quote the premium, and post 24 hours a day.
A missed appearance at Glendale Courthouse can mean a forfeited bond and a bench warrant the same day. There is a statutory window to bring the defendant back before forfeiture becomes a judgment against the cosigner — call us immediately. Failure to appear bail bonds →
